BALENCIAGA ephea™ COAT WON THE PETA LUXURY PRODUCT OF THE YEAR AWARD

On Monday, December 5th, 2022, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has announced its 2022 Fashion Awards to celebrate all the industry trailblazers working to cater to animal-friendly fashion aficionados.

Accordingly, we’re thrilled to announce that Balenciaga has been chosen by PETA as the recipient of the PETA Luxury Product Award for the Maxi Hooded Wrap Coat developed with our mycelium material ephea™, which debuted as part of Balenciaga’s Fall 2022 collection and that can be currently found in selected Balenciaga stores globally.

ephea™ is an unprecedented class of bio-fabricated materials, made with pure mycelium—the first of its
kind to be cultivated on a pure, as opposed to hybrid, basis, eliminating the use of contaminating
chemicals along the growth process, and guaranteeing consistency in quality.
